Netflix has been investing a lot in Hip-Hop lately with series such as The Get Down, the upcoming series "Rapture" and now "Roxanne Roxanne" a new Netflix Original Film from the producers of "Fruitvale Station" and "Dope", written/directed by Michael Larnell and starring Mahershala Ali, Nia Long and introducing Chanté Adams. 

Based on the life of Hip Hop Pioneer Roxanne Shante, the film, set In the early 1980s, chronicles the most feared battle MC in Queens, New York. At the age of 14, Lolita "Roxanne Shante" Gooden was well on her way to becoming a Hip-Hop legend as she hustled to provide for her family while defending herself from the dangers of the streets.
