Nipsey Hussle Memorial Service to Air on BET & Live-Stream Online
BET has announced they will broadcast Nipsey Hussle's memorial service commercial-free live on their networks starting at 10 a.m. PT and live-stream the event via BET News' Facebook page. The memorial is set for Thursday, April 11, 2019, at LA's Staples Center.
Free tickets to the service were snapped up within 10 minutes online Tuesday. Scalpers quickly tried to turn a profit by selling them for hundreds of dollars on marketplaces such as eBay and Craigslist, which attempted to shut down the distasteful sales as quickly as they could. Thousands of friends, family and supporters are expected to fill up Staples Center.
To honor the life of the late Nipsey Hussle, born Ermias Asghedom, the city of Los Angeles announced Tuesday that the intersection of Slauson Avenue and Crenshaw Boulevard will now be known as "Ermias 'Nipsey Hussle' Asghedom Square." Hussle was fatally shot in front of his Marathon Clothing store on March 31.
BET News' Marc Lamont Hill and Gia Peppers are slated to host the program on BET, which will start promptly at 10 a.m. PT.
